Project Spotlight: St. Benedict the Abbot’s New Worship Facility

Studio RED Architects was selected by the Archdiocese of Galveston/Houston to design the new worship center for St. Benedict the Abbot Catholic Church in Southwest Houston. The new church building came as a much awaited blessing to parishioners who had been worshiping in a temporary space for the last forty years. The 10,000 square foot building accommodates seating for 500 worshipers and celebrates the diversity and faith of the congregation with its unique dove shape.

Studio RED Architects Designs St. Benedict the Abbot’s New Worship Center

The Archdiocese of Galveston Houston dedicated St. Benedict the Abbot’s new worship facility on March 9. The new chapel, designed by Houston architectural firm Studio RED, was a much awaited blessing by the congregation. Since its creation 40 years ago, St. Benedict’s congregation has been worshiping in a temporary space. As the congregation grew in number and diversity, a need for a permanent space became apparent.

Alley Theatre Renovation Awarded to Studio RED Architects

Today, Studio RED Architects announced its design of renovations for Houston’s Alley Theatre. This will be the first renovation to the iconic building at 615 Texas Avenue since opening in 1968. Renovations come as part of a $73 million capital campaign to improve the audience experience and attract the finest actors, playwrights and production professionals from around the world.
