Studio RED Promotes Architect to Senior Associate
Studio RED Architects is proud to announce the promotion of Liz Ann Cordill to Senior Associate. As a licensed architect and interior designer, Liz Ann has 12 years of professional experience and has been with the firm for over a year and a half.
Joining Studio RED: Before joining the Studio RED team, Liz Ann had been teaching full-time at the University of Houston. When the interest of joining a practice again came to mind, Liz Ann wanted to be a part of a firm that would support her while she kept teaching.The firm’s reputation in the Houston area lead her to believe it was the perfect place for her. She was correct in assuming, “[Studio RED] supports me in balancing teaching and practice.”
How She Does It: When Liz Ann begins a project she says “the process is different every time, but my preference is to begin with making models, sketching diagrams and conceptual ideas. Ideally, the computer comes in a little later in the process.”
Why She Loves It: One of Liz Ann’s favorite things about architecture is getting to use her creativity everyday. For architects, Liz Ann says it’s important to be observant all the time.The key to creating her designs is in her creative talent and ability to be inspired by her observations around the world.
Memorable Projects: Liz Ann has worked on projects such as the TreeHouse Memorial City, Sawyer Yards, Miller Outdoor Theater Master Planning and the Midtown Arts & Theater Center Houston (MATCH). MATCH, presented Liz Ann and the team a unique opportunity to provide a space that can house multiple performing arts genres, while being conscious of the non-profit’s budget.
Certifications: Along with her licensing in architecture and interior design, Liz Ann is a LEED AP and is a member of the American Institute of Architecture (AIA).
