CLIENT: Chinese Community Center
SIZE: 19,000 sf
SERVICES: Full Architectural Services
DATE COMPLETED: 2019
The Chinese Community Center identified the need for housing their adult day care program in a new space and engaged Studio RED to design the campus master plan. As part of the plan, a new 19,000-sf Senior Building was added to the existing campus, extensive site improvements were made, and an existing storage building was renovated and repurposed to serve as a youth activity space. The new Senior Building incorporates activity rooms, exam rooms, sleeping facilities, a café and commercial kitchen, community meeting rooms, and a performance space. The site was reconfigured to accommodate a new senior outdoor recreation area, a playground for a licensed children’s day care program, and an additional playground for older children. The facility has been designed to comply with the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services’ standards and to respond to a value-conscience budget.
