Construction of a brand new student worship facility for River Pointe Church is nearly complete after Studio RED Architects completed a design for the campus earlier this year. Over the weekend, the church held a “Paint the Walls” social event that drew over a hundred middle school students to the new building. During the event, the congregation’s students were encouraged to express their artistic talents and “leave their mark” on the walls of the new facility.
The construction of the student building is the first phase of the church’s planned master campus designed by Studio RED, and features a progressive scheme that breaks away from typical traditional worship facilities. It will be the largest programmed space, second only to the church’s sanctuary, and will serve as an inviting space for interpersonal recreation and relationship building. With River Pointe Church’s unique culture in mind, lead designer Trung Doan and the team from Studio RED were able to collaborate with the church to create a distinct design for the building. The building will be completed in early January 2014 and is set to be a visionary piece for young people to embrace as their own.
