Sugar Land’s first state-of-the-art indoor performance arena, the Smart Financial Centre, designed by Studio RED Architects and Martinez + Johnson, will open this January, welcoming a myriad of national and international artists and comedians, theater productions and performing arts attractions, as well as different children and family entertainers.
The $84 million, 200,000-square-foot project features moveable partitions that can expand and contract to create four different seating capacities that range from 3,000 to 6,400. Studio RED and Martinez + Johnson worked together to maximize sight seating and sight lines, as well as develop loading areas, dressing rooms, support spaces and a 6,000-square-foot stage.
The venue also features 14 luxury suites, corporate hospitality areas and innovative sound, light and video technology. The entire project was designed to be as high-tech and engaging to the public as possible – appealing to every generation.
The Smart Financial Centre will open its doors to the public on Jan. 14, 2017, with Jerry Seinfeld headlining at its grand opening celebration.
