Studio RED Architects has won a national design competition from over 130 submittals to design the new Air Force Village Chapel in San Antonio. The new 300-seat, multi-faith chapel will be used by retired Air Force Veterans and their families on the Air Force Village II retirement community.
The iconic design is intended to represent the military’s steadfast defense of our nation and uses central Texas limestone, and vertical cast-in-place concrete panels that stand like soldiers. The multi-faith sanctuary allows natural light in from all directions with a view to adjacent reflecting Pool.
According to Trung Doan, AIA, Studio RED partner who was instrumental in the design, “Our design proposal reflects an appreciation for the strength and devotion of these veterans in serving and protecting our country.”
