The Catholic Community of St. Benedict the Abbot in Southwest Houston had been worshiping in a temporary worship space for nearly 40 years. After growing to nearly 2,000 families, they were able to expand their facilities to include a new 600-seat worship space.
Studio RED helped the church master plan and develop a growth strategy that directly related to the parish’s needs. To create a design that captured the spirit of the congregation while meeting their practical needs, Studio RED collaborated closely with the parishioners. The building seamlessly integrates a day chapel for daily mass as well as a large narthex for fellowship between masses. The appropriate liturgical spaces were created for a working sacristy, priests sacristy, liturgical ministry areas and robing rooms.
